It’s difficult to pick these clash-of-the-titans Champions League battles, with the focus of the world’s media on the matches. The bookies will ensure that all their prices are tight, and right. Where some value can be gained, however, is when prices get backed in – when the punters jump on the bandwagon.
A perfect example comes tonight in the Liverpool v Chelsea game; we all know that previous encounters have been tight, goal-short affairs, and everyone expects this one to go the same way. Hence, under 2.5 goals has been backed down to as short as 1.5 in places. In a one off match, where anything can happen, 1.5 is a ridiculously short price – particularly considering Liverpool’s recent attacking potency and Chelsea’s anxiety to get the away goal. It may happen – but it’s certainly not a 1/2 (or close to it) shot, and must be laid. The Wakuba long term strategy…

Stockport v Yeovil
Yeovil have started playing somke good stuff as they pull away from the League One relegation zone; they’ve beaten both Swindon and Northampton, around them in the table, 1-0 in their last two games. Tomorrow they take on Stockport, who are floundering with all the off-field unrest – four defeats in five for them. Yeovil can be backed at 3/1, which is a cracking price.
Yeovil @ 3/1 (Betfair) – 1 point
Darlington v Morecambe
Darlington’s off field problems haven’t had quite the impacet expected – but have definitely caused a loss of form – their results have been hugely erratic. Morecambe are on a great run, and their defeat to resurgent Luton last time out was their first loss in 13. We expect them to get back to winning ways against Darlo – and the 11/4 about them offers value.
Morecambe @ 11/4 (Skybet) – 1 point
Southampton v Charlton
To complete our triumverate of opposing teams with off-field problems, we look at Southampton who, although looking likely to avoid a points deduction because it’s their parent company, still have a hugely shakey future. Charlton, who despite being consigned to relgation have picked up in recent weeks, will be keen to take advantage of the despondency and uncertainty surrounding St Marys. At 100/30, it’s worth backing them to do so.
Charlton @ 100/30 (Widely available) – 1 point

Israel and Greece played out the draw we predicted, giving our subscribers a nice 9/4 winner.
Unfortunately Accrington couldn’t quite sneak all three points against Rotherham, and Barnet suffered a surprise defeat to Darlington, making us slightly down for the weekend.
It’s been an average month for Wakuba, some good winners but unprofitable overall; but we are a long term strategy, and have so far brought back approximately 20% to our subscribers, including one month in which we returned over 40%.
We recommend a minimum 6 month subscription to release the potential of our strategy – sign up now to benefit from our extensive research and analysis.
Free Content: Premiership Double
by Wakuba on Mar.20, 2009, under Selections
Everton are finally getting the credit they deserve for their excellent form this season; they have now lost only once in their last eighteen games, and that a narrow defeat at Old Trafford. They visit Portsmouth who have lost over half their home games and have only one win in their last nine matches. Portsmouth do have some quality so Everton to win outright is risky; but the Blue half of Merseyside should avoid defeat and you can back that (double chance Everton and Draw) at around 2/5.
Meanwhile a six point relegation clash sees Stoke host Boro. The only reason Stoke are not struggling more is their excellent home form; they are a different side at the Brittania with a record only bettered by the top sides. Boro are a young team and they are struggling from a lack of confidence – a frail side like that will not want to visit the Potteries. Stoke should avoid defeat, and you can back that (double chance Stoke and Draw) at around 4/11.
Double these two together and your price is 1.9 (Stan James, 888 Sport) – 2 points
EDIT – These can be combined through the Betfair multiples module to give 2.04 which, minus their commission, is very slightly better)

Weekend Results

It was a rare unprofitable weekend for Wakuba – although we had good winners, Leyton Orient at 4/1 and Spurs at 3/1, plus our Dutch double, late equalisers for Chester and Shrewsbury allied to our other losing selections made our overall figure negative.
We will have losing days and even losing weeks – that is the nature of tipping and indeed of betting. Any tipping/betting advisory service that claims never to lose is claiming the impossible. But Wakuba is a long term strategy, and is paying off handsomely as that – at time of writing we are proofed as providing a 25.4% return to our subscribers.
Stick with Wakuba to make long term returns from betting – in fact, it’s not betting, its investing….

Here are your subscription selections for the Weekend 7th/8th March…
Dagenham and Redbridge v Morecambe
Dagenham have only one win from their past nine matches, and no wins in their last five. They are severely out of form. Morecambe, on the other hand, have hit a rich vein; they are eight unbeaten. With the teams similarly positioned in the table, this is a difficult game to call, but Dagenham certainly don’t stand out as favourites – and their odds are around even money. It’s a definite lay.
LAY Dagenham and Redbridge @ 2.24 (Betfair) – 1.5 points
Birmingham v Southampton
We backed Southampton at long odds last week as they recorded an impressive 3-0 win over Ipswich; and we’re doing so again here. The Saints have hit a real run of form under Mark Wotte, with three wins on the spin, and though Birmingham will be a tough proposition at home McLeish’s side are wobbling (as are all the top Championship sides) with only three wins from twelve. At odds on they are worth opposing, along with a small stake on a Southampton win.
LAY Birmingham @ 1.94 (Betfair) – 1 point
Southampton @ 4/1 (Betfred, Boyles, Totesport) – 0.5 points
Derby v Bristol City
Derby are bang in form under Nigel Clough (we have to say, as we predicted…) and are on a great run. It looks as though they’re stuttering after a defeat and a draw to Doncaster and Swansea; but those two are the other form sides in the division. Derby are playing well, and scoring goals, in contrast to tomorrow’s opponents Bristol City. The Bristolians, after a great run, have won only once from their last four, and haven’t scored in three of those. There are signs they are running out of steam; and Derby are attractive, at home, at odds against.
Derby @ 13/10 (Boyles, Betfred, Paddy Power) – 1 point
Barnet v Chester
Barnet have had excellent recent victories over Rochdale and Bradford, two sides right at the top of the table – and sandwiched between them was a draw against Chesterfield. The encounter Chester, whose dire form returned against Wycombe last time out (they had secured a couple of draws) – they’ve now not won for thirteen games and have lost nine of those. Back their poor run to continue against the in-form Bees.
Barnet @ 10/11 (Boyles/BetFred/BlueSq) – 1 point
Bradford v Aldershot
Bradford have excellent home form, amongst the best in the division, with a 9-8-1 record. Compare that with Aldershot away, which stands at 3-1-11, and it’s obvious where your money should be going in this one. Bradford are backable at around 4/5.
Bradford @ 4/5 (BetFred/ Skybet) – 1 point
Scunthorpe v Stockport
These two sides sit 7th and 8th, so this should be a tight game as they both push for the playoffs. Scunny drew against Walsall last time out, arresting a run of four consecutive defeats, and Stockport have drawn their last two. Another draw is on the cards here.
Scunthorpe v Stockport DRAW @ 5/2 (Bet365, PaddyPower) – 1 point
Darlington v Macclesfield
Darlington’s current problems are well documented, with their huge, empty stadium and recent points deduction. Many are going against them. However, after a couple of results that indicated shock at their plight, they now seem to be sorting themselves out and beat Notts County in their last game. They take on a distinctly average Macclesfield side who have lost three of their last four, and the 10/11 is good value.
Darlington @ 10/11 (Coral) – 1 point

Here are our subscription selections for the weekend…
Middlesbrough v Wigan
Wigan’s games have been severely short of goals in recent weeks – 0-0,0-0,1-1,0-1,0-1,1-0 – and they have not won for 5 matches. Boro are struggling hugely, without a win in months, and this is a massive game for both sides. With a win, either could spark a turnaround; but another defeat continues their slide. With the lack of goals a problem for both sides, under 2.5 is the way to go, even with the poor odds.
Boro v Wigan under 2.5 goals @ 1.62 (Betfair) – 2 points
Swansea v Doncaster
Swansea lost last time out to Watford, their first defeat for 14 games. Often teams suffer ‘come down’s’ at the end of strong runs, and there is certainly the possibility of that here. Doncaster and Swansea played together in League Two and are similar sides, playing attractive, passing football. Donnie are the form side of the division, unbeaten in 11 games tith 8 wins from them. Were it not for their appalling start to the season they would be much, much higher – and now they are playing like a top half side, the 4/1 available looks extremely attractive.
Doncaster @ 4/1 (Widely Available) – 1 point
Doncaster/Draw (Double Chance) @ 2.05 (Ladbrokes) – 1 point
Wolves v Cardiff
Wolves have been very erratic in recent weeks, losing their last two and only winning one of their last five. Cardiff, if they win their games in hand, could go top – and threaten to cause the home side more heartache. Their defeat to Arsenal aside, they have excellent recent form, and the odds on the home side are short enough to justify a lay.
LAY Wolves @ 2.18 (Betfair) – 1 point
