Tuesday Night Picks
by Wakuba on Nov.24, 2009, under Selections
There are Coca-Cola and Champions League games this midweek, and here are our best selections from them…
Bournemouth v Dagenham and Redbridge
We opposed Bournemouth against Torquay last time out, only for them to get a breakaway clincher with Torquay dominating. Dagenham have been going great guns this season and their recent defeat to Rochdale seems to have inflated their price somewhat – 11/4 seems a little big.
Dagenham @ 11/4 (widely available) – 2 points
Fiorentina v Lyon
A draw suits both of these teams, and in that situation usually represents good value. This is no exception.
Fiorentina v Lyon Draw @ 23/20 (Totesport) – 2 points
Debrecen v Liverpool
In one sense the pressure is off Liverpool here, as they are reliant on a favourable result in the Fiorentina game. However, the number of goals they score in this game directly impacts how many they need in their next game to ensure qualification should it go their way. They will undoubtedly go for it, and if they do, there is a strong possibility they could destroy Debrecen. The prices reflect that unfortunately, the best bet is arguably:
Liverpool -1.5 @ 1.8 (Betfair) – 2 points
Arsenal v Standard Liege
Arsenal’s home record is outstanding, scoring 33 goals in 10 matches so far this season while conceding only seven. Liege are poor away from home, and have only scored three in their last five. This is likely to be a goalfest; we’ll take the same bet as above.
Arsenal – 1.5 @ 1.83 (Betfair) – 2 points
Antepost Premiership: A Special Offer from Paddy Power…
by Wakuba on Aug.05, 2009, under News
We don’t think there’s much value in the Premiership antepost betting – with Man City at 13/1 best price then a 140/1 bar, it’s not worth tying up your money for that long. However, if you insist on backing them, or United or Chelsea at very short odds (3.45 and 3.15 respectively) or Liverpool or Arsenal at slightly better, but still tight prices (4.8 and 9.8) – or (staggeringly) someone else - then make sure you do it with Paddy Power. Details of their offer:
Premier League 2009/10 Enhanced Special
If you back a team to win the Premier League and they win the double (Premier League and FA Cup) Paddy Power will DOUBLE the odds, if they win the treble (League, FA Cup and Champions League) we will TREBLE the odds.
Makes it look slightly better, doesn’t it? You can find the offer here.
The Ashes – The 3rd Test
by Wakuba on Jul.29, 2009, under News
Weather is the overriding factor going into the third Test at Edgbaston. With a poor weather forecast the draw has come in to a best priced 5/6, which is not worth backing but also not a lay, as it could be rained off for the majority of the time.
What does stand out, is a bet in the bowler market. We are already on Swann to be top bowler in the series, but he also stands out here. The pitch is expected to offer little for the pace bowlers, meaning not only will Swann be potent but also bowl a lot of overs. Panesar is unlikely to play, so the spin burden will be entirely on the Notts man. He took four wickets in the second innings of the last test, finally finding some form, and is worth backing to continue that here.
Lastly, with conditions likely to be gloomy and overcast, spin at times may be the only option for the bowling side.
Graeme Swann top England bowler @ 9/2 (Stan James) – 1 point
Also, considering this, and the decent form he has been in with the bat, he is also worth consideration in the Man of the Match market.
Graeme Swann Man of the Match @ 20/1 (Ladbrokes, William Hill) – 0.5 points

Weekend Results
by Wakuba on Mar.23, 2009, under Results
Cheltenham secured a 2-2 draw, making our lay of Huddersfield at 1.63 a winner – but it could have been so much better… Cheltenham were a 7.2 tip and only a 93rd minute equaliser denied our subscribers.
But Cheltenham’s draw, coupled with Millwall’s stirring comeback (coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2) brought us level for the weekend after Crewe’s surprisingly abject performance against Leeds and Gillingham’s collapse against Grimsby.
There are more and more surprise results as we near the end of the season; Wakuba will be using all of our research and analysis tools to find the ‘value’, find the incorrect prices, and make money from our betting.

Wakuba Back on Form
by Wakuba on Mar.18, 2009, under Results
Our subscribers will be happy this morning as we brought them a 4/1 winner (Chesterfield) and an 11/8 romp (Bournemouth). One goal in the Swansea game denied us a clean sweep but we returned a healthy profit (77% to be exact) from the evening.

Arsenal take on Hull in the FA Cup tonight; and with the Gunners suddenly coming into form, it’s difficult to bet against them. Their odds are prohibitive; but you would expect them to breach the porous Hull backline. A look at the Arsenal side sees the in-form Arshavin likely to be sidelined as he had stitches in his foot, and Eduardo out with a strain, following the pattern of long term absentees coming back then picking up a separate injury. Adebayor is a longer term absentee.
So the value lies with whoever starts up front for Arsenal, and it looks likely to be between Vela, Van Persie, and Bendtner.
The current anytime goalscorer odds on these are:
Van Persie: 23/20 (Extrabet)
Vela: 13/8 (Boyles)
Bendtner: 13/8 (Extrabet)
After seeing Bendtner’s performance against Blackburn, where he missed several gilt-edged opportunities, we’d advise staying away from him – so the bet could be Vela.
BUT WAIT UNTIL THE TEAM NEWS!
