Swansea v Fulham
This has been flagged in most places – including by the TV networks – as the most likely upset in the 5th Round – and there are plenty of compelling reasons why. Firstly, Swansea’s excellent recent form; after their phenomenal run of eight straight draws they have now won six of their last seven; including a 2-0 win at Fratton Park in the last round. Fulham’s away form has been miserable; only three goals and no wins yet this season. A form lower division side taking on a struggling (away from home) side in a higher division always has the potential for an upset, and at 13/8 they are worth following.

Midweek FA Cup
by Wakuba on Jan.13, 2009, under News
The FA Cup replays take place tonight and tomorrow night, with 12 in total (9 tonight 3 tomorrow).
Picking these games is hard; lots of evenly matched sides. And sides that may appeal, namely Peterborough and Bristol City, are prohibitively short against Premiership sides (2.76 and 2.62 respectively).
Last time out we tipped Doncaster, but neither them nor their opponents Cheltenham have played since 28th December, so anything could happen there.
One bet does stand out, however – you’ll have to subscribe to find out what…

Blyth Spartans v Blackburn
by Wakuba on Jan.03, 2009, under Selections
On Monday, Blackburn will take a strong side to Blyth, and are in decent form since Sam Allardyce took over. Non-league sides often try and kick and out-compete a superior side, but thanks to Mark Hughes Blackburn can scrap with the best of them.
Blyth are struggling at the foot of the conference North, and though you can never rule out the magic of the cup, Blackburn will surely have too much for them here.

Man City v Notts Forest
by Wakuba on Jan.03, 2009, under Selections
One that stands out early, is the Man City – Forest game.
Mark Hughes will be desperate to get City into some sort of rhythm after their hugely inconsistent start to the season, and a morale boosting win in the cup will do wonders. They have been free-scoring at home; despite a 5-0-5 record, they have scored 24 goals in those 10 games, the most in the Premiership by a clear four. Forest have conceded 22 goals in 13 away games in the Championship.
With Man City’s leaky defence (30 goals conceded in 20 matches) and their potent frontline, and Forest’s capacity for conceding away from home, the 1.71 available on over 2.5 goals looks appealing.
Billy Davies will not have had time to make a tangible difference – and watches this one from the stands.
Team news is that although Ireland and Robinho miss out, Elano starts.
