Champions League and County Championship

by Wakuba on Aug.04, 2009, under News

Dinamo Moscow v Chelsea

We tipped Chelsea because of their strong home form – but they were turned over, losing 1-0 in Scotland to a Russian side who looked sharper, fitter and better after 15 games of their domestic season. We would have opposed Celtic in Russia anyway (such is the stark contract between home and away form) and their first leg only served to reinforce that. Celtic have not won away in Europe for six years (!) and have never recovered a European tie after losing at home. It’s difficult to pick the right bet – Dinamo appeal at 2.1, but Celtic could get a draw, so we’ll take the 1/2 about Dinamo, Draw No Bet, with Sporting Bet.

Dinamo Moscow (Draw No Bet) @ 1/2 – Sporting Bet – 2 points

Warwickshire v Somerset

Another bet that appeals comes in the County Championship, where Warwickshire take on Somerset. Both sides have strong batting line ups and less appealing bowling attacks – and add to that Edgbaston has seen 17 of the last 21 games as draws, plus variable weather, and the 1/9 on Betfair looks appealing.

Warwickshire v Somerset – Draw @ 1.9 (Betfair) – 2 points

20/20 Cricket – One for free

by Wakuba on Jun.08, 2009, under News

England look to have snuck through after their shock defeat to the Netherlands, which is a relief for us with Bopara as top bat – the more games they play, the likelier the cream rises to the top…

Today sees Bangladesh take on Ireland, and Sri Lanka play Australia – who are fighting to stay in after their heavy defeat to the West Indies. We’ll stay away from the second game; although Sri Lanka are tempting at 6/4, Australia must win.

In the other game, however, Ireland look hugely appealing at 4.3. As we said before the tournament, and as the Netherlands, the West Indies, and Scotland should have proved, this form of the game is primed for upsets. Bangladesh are not a side to be relied on, although they do have talented players; and Ireland boast a handful of county players in their ranks. They are more than capable of beating the Bangladeshis, and at greater than 3/1 are definitely worth following.

Ireland @ 4.3 (Betfair) – 1 point

Weekend Results

by Wakuba on Mar.30, 2009, under Results

Israel and Greece played out the draw we predicted, giving our subscribers a nice 9/4 winner.

Unfortunately Accrington couldn’t quite sneak all three points against Rotherham, and Barnet suffered a surprise defeat to Darlington, making us slightly down for the weekend.

It’s been an average month for Wakuba, some good winners but unprofitable overall; but we are a long term strategy, and have so far brought back approximately 20% to our subscribers, including one month in which we returned over 40%.

We recommend a minimum 6 month subscription to release the potential of our strategy – sign up now to benefit from our extensive research and analysis.

There is a cricket game just starting with South Africa playing Australia, a 20/20.

Anything can happen in this short form of the game, and it’s worth looking at a value outsider for top batsman; a quick 30 at the end of an innings can make all the difference. Australia bat now so you have a couple of hours to back top SA bat – and our outside picks are Robin Peterson and Johan Botha. Peterson is a decent bat more than capable of a few runs and should probably trade around 20/1 (he’s 66/1) whereas Botha can hit a long ball – and is captain so may indulge himself up the order (or respond to the responsibility). Just small stakes as this is an outsider – but represents value.

South Africa v Australia 20/20
Top South Africa Batsman

Robin Peterson @ 66/1 (Paddypower) – .25 points
Johan Botha @ 40/1 (Extrabet/Coral) – .25 points
