Weekend Results
by Wakuba on Aug.17, 2009, under News
Three of our five selections won this weekend – Stoke comfortably beat Burnley (which was welcomed by the freeloaders who read us but don’t pay a subscription!) plus our lay of Shrewsbury and selection of over 2.5 goals in the Spurs-Liverpool game altogether brought us a small profit.
There are a raft of midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we will bring our selections for them in plenty of time.

Stockport v Yeovil
Yeovil have started playing somke good stuff as they pull away from the League One relegation zone; they’ve beaten both Swindon and Northampton, around them in the table, 1-0 in their last two games. Tomorrow they take on Stockport, who are floundering with all the off-field unrest – four defeats in five for them. Yeovil can be backed at 3/1, which is a cracking price.
Yeovil @ 3/1 (Betfair) – 1 point
Darlington v Morecambe
Darlington’s off field problems haven’t had quite the impacet expected – but have definitely caused a loss of form – their results have been hugely erratic. Morecambe are on a great run, and their defeat to resurgent Luton last time out was their first loss in 13. We expect them to get back to winning ways against Darlo – and the 11/4 about them offers value.
Morecambe @ 11/4 (Skybet) – 1 point
Southampton v Charlton
To complete our triumverate of opposing teams with off-field problems, we look at Southampton who, although looking likely to avoid a points deduction because it’s their parent company, still have a hugely shakey future. Charlton, who despite being consigned to relgation have picked up in recent weeks, will be keen to take advantage of the despondency and uncertainty surrounding St Marys. At 100/30, it’s worth backing them to do so.
Charlton @ 100/30 (Widely available) – 1 point
Free Content: Premiership Double
by Wakuba on Mar.20, 2009, under Selections
Everton are finally getting the credit they deserve for their excellent form this season; they have now lost only once in their last eighteen games, and that a narrow defeat at Old Trafford. They visit Portsmouth who have lost over half their home games and have only one win in their last nine matches. Portsmouth do have some quality so Everton to win outright is risky; but the Blue half of Merseyside should avoid defeat and you can back that (double chance Everton and Draw) at around 2/5.
Meanwhile a six point relegation clash sees Stoke host Boro. The only reason Stoke are not struggling more is their excellent home form; they are a different side at the Brittania with a record only bettered by the top sides. Boro are a young team and they are struggling from a lack of confidence – a frail side like that will not want to visit the Potteries. Stoke should avoid defeat, and you can back that (double chance Stoke and Draw) at around 4/11.
Double these two together and your price is 1.9 (Stan James, 888 Sport) – 2 points
EDIT – These can be combined through the Betfair multiples module to give 2.04 which, minus their commission, is very slightly better)

Here are your subscription selections for the midweek matches. Let’s hope we can turn around a poor weekend. However, we have to remember that in midweek evening matches, anything can happen… hence the avoidance of what would look like ‘banker’ bets.
QPR v Swansea
A difficult game to call, this; Swansea are a good, footballing side but have struggled recently and only have one win in their last six. QPR are on a dreadful run themselves, with no win in nine – but have drawn ten of their last sixteen. Swansea are the divisional draw specialists, and are back to form with three draws in five. This could another to the tally for both clubs.
QPR v Swansea: Draw @12/5 (Skybet) – 1 point
QPR generally try and shut up shop against the better sides, so it’s worth a very small bet on the 0-0 in this one also. A betting strategy tip for you here, too… If you want to back 0-0, back ‘no goalscorer’ instead – they are the same odds, but with ‘no goalscorer’ own goals are not included; so you could have a game that actually ends 1-0, with an own goal, but because you backed ‘no goalscorer’ instead of 0-0 (which obviously would have lost) you still have a winning bet!
QPR v Swansea ‘No Goalscorer’ @ 8/1 (Totesport) – 0.25 points
Bournemouth v Bradford
Bournemouth are one of the division’s form sides, with three wins from their last four and only two defeats in their last twelve. Their home form is even better, with only two losses in their past seventeen and no defeats this calendar year. They play a Bradford side who have problems; aside from their 5-0 win over an abject Aldershot they have only one win, scraped 1-0 against Macclesfield, in their last seven, and have lost their last two. Away from home their form is even worse, with only one win in nine, four straight defeats, and no goals in their last two games. Bradford have off the field problems too, with two players left out of the weekend squad after a ‘breach of club discipline’ and there are also rumours of infighting (literally) amongst the squad, with some word of a fight on the team coach after their game against Exeter.
Bournemouth @ 11/8 (Betfred, Victor Chandler, Skybet) – 1 point
Brentford v Chesterfield
We mentioned that anything can happen in midweek; and that gives us reason to follow Chesterfield, who are on a good run but visit table topping Brentford. The Bees go into this on the back of a thrilling 3-3 draw with Wycome which will have taken a lot out of them, and could be complacent. The odds are also a major reason to follow the away side; they are available at 4/1. This is an outside bet, but worth a small stake on a form side to upset the odds.
Chesterfield @ 4/1 (Boyles, Sky, Ladbrokes) – 0.5 points

Another Profitable Night for Wakuba
by Wakuba on Mar.04, 2009, under Results
Our 3/1 pick on Leicester to draw, coupled with Southampton’s comprehensive 3-0 win over Ipswich at 17/4, made it another profitable evening for our subscribers.
From our other selections, the Bristol Rovers game was called off, and Crewe, Watford and Swindon couldn’t muster victories – but our betting strategy and staking pattern ensured that if you’d followed us, you’d have made money.
Our free selection can be read further down the page, and takes place tonight.
